Modi government to raise Rs 6 lakh crore by spectrum auction Will soon be 5G

Now the telecom sector is preparing to enter the 5th generation services ie 5G. Under this most ambitious digital initiative of the government, it is estimated to raise Rs 6 lakh crore by spectrum auction.

Modi Government has taken a gamble for a new revolution in the telecom sector of the country. After 4G, the telecom sector is now preparing for the fifth generation services i.e. in 5G soon. Under this most ambitious digital initiative of the government, it is estimated to raise Rs 6 lakh crore by spectrum auction.

According to the Times of India, after the spectrum auction, affordable 5G services will be started in the country, which includes Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Internet service in rural areas. This plan has been approved by the Digital Communications Commission (DCC), the supreme decision making body to decide on telecommunications matters. Under this, auction of about 8,600 mega-Hz mobile airwaves will be done. This auction can be done by the end of this year.

What is 5g

5G means the fifth generation mobile network technology. This will greatly increase the speed of the Internet, and very fast broadband services will be available. Because of this, it will be easier to provide internet based services in sectors such as health, education. This will facilitate services like Smart Driving, Smart City, Smart Home, Remote Surgery. It is estimated that in 5G the speed of the internet will be up to 100 times.

Telecom Department from the newspaper, a senior official told that if the spectrum sale is only on the reserve price, then the government will get at least Rs 5.8 lakh crore. However, the government wants to get more money from the auction. Apart from this, it will also be emphasized that telecom services are inclusive, that is, the benefits of these services to the cities, villages, the rich and the poor.

There is also a plan to make 5G inclusive and social. This means that the use of 5G can be used in smart cars, smart cities, and also in services like rural health and education.

It is noteworthy that earlier, during the first Modi government, the spectrum auction was not successful and only 40 per cent of spectrum auctioned. So this time, DCC had asked the Telecom Regulator TRAI to ask for a new auction of auction.

DCC members feel that spectrum is a precious thing and if it is not sold then it will not be of any use. The government is also planning to launch 5G trial soon and companies like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung can be included. This trial can be started in many start-ups and educational institutions.

Communication revolution in rural areas

The most important point of this plan is that 5G services will be spread in rural areas. Public-Private Partnership (PPP) can be adopted for this. Under this, 3 lakh common service centers will be opened in rural areas, through which at least two WiFi hotspots will be given to 1 lakh gram panchayats.
